          Oktoberfest 2024

On Sunday the 13th of October 2024 twenty-three of Scotland’s finest golfers descended on Kirriemuir Golf Club for the 20th running of our Oktoberfest event. Blessed with glorious weather conditions for the time of year expectations were high for some great competition.

The majority of the field were playing the course for the first time & this proved to be crucial in the outcome of the results. A knowledge of the brilliant James Braid layout is invaluable no matter how good your stroke saver & GPS are, with many finding the Hazards, humps and hollows along with the Broom that lines some of the fairways during their round.

Knowing the course provided our winner with enough foresight to keep the ball in play and score points on all but 1 hole, his closest rival being 3 points behind. There were several challengers but all succumbed to the afore mentioned challenges of the tricky layout, the tree on right at 17th catching out many a good tee shot.

Congratulations to our winner Brian Docherty with his 35points comfortably securing the win. He currently holds both major trophies, only the 3rd person to achieve this, so well done indeed.         ……………………………………………………………
